Well guys, I bet everyone is writing about the Credit Crunch and I am another one to join in. It seems inescapable to avoid – every morning you listen to the radio or the TV news and even then if you manage to avoid them, you go to work and are handed a free newspaper with headlines on the crunch. If you are lucky enough to avoid being given one or seeing headlines on someone else’s, you then go to the supermarket and what is on the big TV screens? Yeah, you got it, news on the Credit Crunch!
I think lining up in the Bank with the TV on and once again seeing news on the Credit Crunch finally made me realise there is no escape. I am not someone who hides my head in the sand; you would have to live as a hermit to not know the state of the economy, but just once in a while a bit of happy news would be welcome.
I met my girlfriends for coffee last week and once upon a time we would talk about humorous things in our lives, shared gossip or just plain silliness – it was wonderful use of our time and a bit of escapism. This time we were talking about how expensive everything had become and even got down to comparing food prices in supermarkets! After about 30 minutes of this we stopped, looked at each other and said enough! Life is hard for everyone; you can’t escape how the crunch is affecting everyone. But for our hour of catching up, we are going to continue with laughing, sharing and plain gossiping – it’s our time out. Once we all go home again then real life returns.
In these days of hardship everyone deserves a bit of escapism even if it is just for an hour!
